Why no Lupus discussions?
I see RA discussed but no SLE. Any particular reason why? My sister in law was diagnosed last friday with Lupus, Discoid (biopsy positive). On high dose steroids. Classic fibromyalgia in immediate family. Lives in Tampa area. (Probably will move-and take with her, her husband and only cousin my child has known so closely). She has had trigeminal neuralgia and TMJ with dental Rx.
Answer
The lupus is well addressed overall by standard options, adding: 1- several studies show DHEA 200 mg a day helps outcomes in lupus, but this is a high dose, and can cause acne or darkening of facial hair in women, so needs to be given by a health professional. 2- A key issue in lupus that is very often overlooked is the secondary Fibromyalgia, which can be causing many if not most of the symptoms, responds poorly to standard lupus treatment (resulting in medication doses being ratcheted up), and responds excellently to SHINE. SO I address lupus in the context of Fibromyalgia and autoimmune issues in general, but you are right--it deserves an article of its own;-)!
