The Thatcher Effect
Our mind is acutely programmed to recognize faces in an upright position, so much so that it has difficulty spotting abnormalities when looking at one that's upside-down. It's named "The Thatcher Effect" because it was first demonstrated using a photo of former UK prime minister Margaret Thatcher.
